What was your favorite book that you were REQUIRED to read when you were in school?
A: In eighth grade we read The Giver by Lois Lowry. I seriously think this book changed my life! Or, at least my reading preferences. Harry Potter had already won me my fantasy obsession by then, and The Giver introduced me to a lot of utopian, dystopian, and eventually science fiction books.

The Giver! Yes, yes, yes! Brilliant, life-changing book. It made me so grateful for freedom of choice. And then HP . . . well what can one say? He is just the best. ReplyDeleteThe Giver was my fav from 8th grade too. I re-read it not to long ago and i found myself not enjoying it as much. but it still has a nice place in my heart (and on my bookshelf.
